Well, all my questions were answered, but now I’m really, really sad this series is over.
This series has been such a roller-coaster of drama, and I feel like all the characters are family. They all have distinctive personalities and issues, and they all play into this one big story that sucked me in from the very beginning.
Book 3 definitely had some new surprises, and maybe even left a thread or two loose… Marilyn Monroe? (Todd Croft’s wife) This was very minor, though, probably not even worth the follow up, I suppose.
I found it a little weird that my Book of the Month hardcover version had some extra story that the audiobook I was listening along to did not have, specifically pertaining to Oscar, the old flame of Rosie who was bad news. I thought the added info added an extra layer of intrigue, so I’m surprised it was taken out in the audiobook, or maybe it was added after the audiobook was produced?
The end of this book, though, with the big hurricane that the note at the very beginning alluded to… woo… it was a doozy and I could feel how ominous it was in the pit of my gut.
I definitely recommend this series, starting with book 1 – they have to be read in order! For anyone who enjoys a good general or women’s fiction. Good stuff! The place and the people all seem so real and everything really comes alive within these pages.
