#TBR March 2019

What ya reading this month?

It’s going to be a fun month for me, indeed. I’m following a few different book clubs, including one of my own, last month’s Hello Sunshine book club pick (which is also my local book club pick for this month), and the Books With Friends Book Club run by Books with Chloe and Common Spence booktubers.

Speaking of Reading with Chloe, I’m also doing the DOSAB Readalong…

So that starts my TBR list for March 2019.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

by Laini Taylor

I’ve started reading this one, and so far it’s very good. I’m hooked. YA Fantasy, and so far, while it does seem like a younger YA read, it’s still pretty interesting with great characters.

The Proposal

by Jasmine Guillory

This was last month’s Hello Sunshine book club pick, and this month’s pick for my local book club. It’s a romance by a black author, which is exciting because the POC (people of color) representation is definitely lacking in mainstream romance. It’s nice to see this get so much attention.

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

by Claire North

I picked this up after hearing about it on booktuber PeruseProject’s video Giving my Boyfriend a TBR 2019 Edition, and it sounded really intriguing.

Circe

by Madeline Miller

I’ve been seeing this book everywhere, and it sounds like a really fun read with characters from Greek Mythology. Possibly some dark themes.

Crooked Kingdom

by Leigh Bardugo

I read Six of Crows back in January, and it was just too good not to get to the sequel in some type of timely fashion. I must know what happens to Inej, and whether Kaz will drop his armor and take his woman, or if he’ll just keep on being a hard ass.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz

by Heather Morris

I’ll be listening to this book on audio this month, for the main reason I picked this book up in the first place, which was the fact that it’s narrated by Richard Armitage.

I also grabbed the hardcover edition at my local library just to read along as I listen if I’m able.

I also hauled Geekerella by Ashley Poston and Dark Witch by Nora Roberts from the local public library, so I will hopefully read those as well.

Sex, Not Love

by Vi Keeland

I’ve been running a monthly Romance Book Club for just under a year now, and the book voted for this month is this beauty. I’ll listen to this in audio as well. Vi Keeland tends to be one of my favorite romance authors, even if her stories tend to seem a bit formulaic once you’ve read a few. Still, the stories are interesting and the characters are likable, so I as long as it keeps grabbing me by the feels, I’ll keep reading them.

Britt-Marie Was Here

by Fredrik Backman

This is a sort-of standalone sequel to Backman’s book, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, which is one of my all time favorite books I’ve ever read.

Britt-Marie was a sort of by-the-book OCD character in that story that we learned some things about by the end, and this book picks up from there. I’d wager that her character is representative of someone with Asperger’s or somewhere on the Autism Spectrum, the way she’s so stuck to routines and proper ways things should work, and this book is going to throw her life into a tailspin. I’ve already started listening to the audio on this one, and so far, it’s got that classic charm Backman is known for, his notoriety of being able to write an entire community of people you just can’t help but get pulled into.

Art of Sin

by L.M. Halloran

This was on my TBR for last month as an ARC, but I didn’t get it until late in the month, and its release date was March 7, so I ended up putting it off, but I really want to get to it this month, probably sooner rather than later. This is one of my favorite authors, who I have dubbed the Queen of Angst. This ends on a cliffhanger, so I might wait until I have the ARC of book 2 so I can read them both back-to-back.

The Bourbon Kings

by J.R. Ward

A romance set in New Orleans? Written by J.R. Ward? Umm… is there really a question here? I’ll be listening to this on audio, and I’m pretty excited about this one. I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating

by Christina Lauren

Last month, I read Roomies by these same authors and of course loved it. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book, too, and I’ve been on a bit of a Christina Lauren kick lately, so this one is next up on my list. I’m excited about it. 🙂

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Yes, who hasn’t heard of this book. It’s all over booktube, and I’m jumping on the wagon. I figure if that many people love this book, surely it must be pretty good. So it’s time to jump into it.

Girls of Paper and Fire

by Natasha Ngan

This is another popular book on booktube, and it looks like a really interesting read I think I’m going to like. YA fantasy with some action/adventure thrown in, sounds like a pretty good time to me!

The Gilded Wolves

by Roshani Chokshi

Another fantasy book with a group of characters pulling off a heist… coming down from the Six of Crows high, this was a well-timed new release to get my fix. I’ve seen a bunch of people talk about reading this book but not a lot of people talking about what they actually thought of it, so I’m curious to see how this one turns out.

That’s all for my planned reads for March. What are you reading this month? Any of the ones on my list? Or have you already read any of them? I’d love to hear what you thought about these!
