Not a Review But Let’s Discuss This S*** Show: The Mister by E.L. James

Here’s the thing… I’m only at 3% of this book; I’ve tried picking it up 3 times now and keep putting it down; I already don’t like the Hero. I’m legit ready to DNF this thing at only 3%, and that’s with this odd feeling of obligation that I need to be able to say I read this book for some reason.

What I really want to know is, why the hell did the publisher not send out ARCs for this book? They could have identified very early on that this needs some work. That it leaves a lot to be desired. What were they honestly thinking? And I’m pretty sure they did not (send out ARCs) because on release day the book had little to no reviews on Amazon.

The Mister on GoodReads

I actually loved Fifty Shades of Grey. I read the whole series like 3 or 4 times, poor editing and all. I thought that the psychology of the story, the characters, their motivations, etc. were so well done, and the story itself was interesting. The mysterious, dark, and brooding Hero and the unlikely, awkward, girl-next-door heroine we could all identify with.

But this guy is talking about getting some blow and finding a hookup on Tinder, next scene with said random hookup from Tinder and he’s offering her the cocaine, and we get this very detailed scene of him getting physical with her and we already know we don’t care about this woman because she’s nameless, not our book’s heroine. I mean, come on.

Come on. Someone give me a reason not to get my money back while I still can on this.

Thoughts???
