January 2019 TBR List

Happy New Year! Let’s do some reading. 🙂

Ok, so I have to admit, my TBR list seems a little ambitious for January. At least for me, it does. I usually read about one book per week, usually in the form of audio books. However, there are a couple books on this list that I’ll be reading in ebook format because audio is not available.

Here’s the full list for starters, and then I’ll talk a little about why each of these below.

Contemporary Romance

Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

Unzipped

by Lauren Blakely

First book on the list is Unzipped by Lauren Blakely. This book won the popular vote for my monthly Romance Book Club this month, so that’s where I think I’ll start out for the month. Since I always love a good Lauren Blakely book, of course, I’m excited to read it. It’s supposed to be one of the most romantic books LB has written. That’s saying something if it is. We’re going to find out!

My Favorite Half-Night Stand

by Christina Lauren

This was one of the books nominated for my Book Club this month, and while it didn’t make the cut on most popular vote, it looked like a really good read, so I’m going to read it anyway. <3 I mean, who doesn’t want to read about the train wrecks people have with online dating, plus a friends-to-lovers story to get wrapped up in?

Reveling in Sin: The Sin Trilogy Book 3

by Meghan March

This is the third book in a 3 part series, and none of these books are standalone. The first two both end in major cliffhangers, and while that can be annoying to some readers, it doesn’t really bother me much when all the books are available for immediate consumption. I read the first two books one right after the other, but I had some other books I needed to read before I got to this third one, so I’m really looking forward to jumping into this one. The first two were soooooo good!

Power Games

by May Sage

This is one of the books that are not currently available in Audiobook format, so it’s one that I’ll be reading the ebook on. I started it a few weeks ago, and what I’ve read of it so far has been excellent. Ebooks are hard for me to find time to read these days with everything I have going on, so it’s rare I get to sit down and just enjoy reading a book, but this one is one I’m looking forward to finishing this month.

Of Blood and Bone: Chronicles of the One Book 2

by Nora Roberts

This is the second book in Nora’s Chronicles of the One Series. I read the first book, Year One, back in September 2018, and it was really, really good. It also ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. Some threads of the book were tied up at the end of the first book, but there were some pretty big questions still left unanswered that I’m looking forward to exploring in this second book.

This is not to be confused with the YA book, the author of which started a Twitter storm claiming that Nora Roberts stole her title. I mean, really?? (Eye roll.) That’s about all I have to say about that. 😉

Vicious: Villains Book 1

by V.E. Schwab

This book came highly recommended by another Lubbock based author, K.A. Linde. She posted on Facebook during the Christmas Holiday that she sat and read Books 1 and 2 in one sitting, so naturally, I had to pick this up. Especially after I found out we both are huge fans of Jeff Wheeler books!! So, I imagine this book will be right up my fantastical alley. I have to see what the hype is all about! You’ll know if Vengeful (Book 2) is on my TBR for February!

A Flare of Hope: The Jaylior Series Book 1

by Elodie Colt

This is going to sound a little crazy, but this is Book 1 in a four book series, and it’s the only one of the four I haven’t read yet. Not completely, anyway. I’ve started reading this a while back, but it’s another one of those that are not available in Audiobook format, so it’s one I had started reading a while back when it first came out because I absolutely love reading this author. And then life happened, but I had the opportunity to proofread Books 2-4, and they were AWESOME. Like, legit awesome. So this month, I’m going back and reading this one, and it’s about damn time. It’s a Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy, and it’s seriously right up there with the works of, say, Dannika Dark.

Blood Awakening: The Blood Curse Series Book 2

by Tessa Dawn

I had the honor of meeting this author this past summer in Denver, and she is so talented. SOOOO so talented. I read the first book in this series I think back in August 2018, and I cannot believe I’ve waited this long to dive into Book 2. These books have such camaraderie among such interesting and dynamic characters, such exciting fight scenes, such intense situations. I can’t decide who my favorite character is, they are all so larger than life. I’m really looking forward to this one!

What About You?

What are you reading this month? I’d love to hear below. Also, what do you think about the books on my TBR list for January? Think I’ll get through all of them?
