I’ve been on fire this month! Thankfully not literally, but I’m almost finished with the TBR I set for August and I’ve even finished a couple books that weren’t originally on my TBR.
Here’s a few of the most notable so far.
How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
Once I picked this up, I couldn’t put it down. So much hope and inspiration in this story. Such amazing characters, some of which you’ll love, some of which you’ll hate, and some of which you’ll change your mind about once you get to know.
Also, where can I find me an Ian?
And also also, tumped is totally a word. Even if I am from Texas! Lol
Life and Other Near-Death Experiences by Camille Pagán
Camille Pagán has this remarkable way of writing stories and characters so realistic and relatable that you feel like, or I feel like, I could see myself living this story. This is the third book in under a month I’ve read from this author and I can’t wait to find my next one. Right after I find a tissue because this book had me crying like a baby. It was so deeply emotional. So touching. I loved every word of it.
From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata
This was a fantastic book. Enemies to lovers. Characters had great personalities. Backstory was well developed. It felt very immersive. And also, I’ve always loved the couples figure skating, so this was so much fun to read.
Life and Other Inconveniences by Kristan Higgins
Great story. Great cast of characters. I loved how we got all these different perspectives. The personalities of each character were so vivid! Loved how we got to see the hardships people live through affected by the suicide of a loved one. There were moments in this book that had me in literal tears, moments of pure terror. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you read it yourself!! Moments of honesty, very real and raw. Another well-done read from Kristan Higgins.
What have I had a hard time getting into this month? Surprisingly… All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Maybe I’m just not in the right frame of mind to read that book yet. But I’m leaning toward DNF and picking another historical to read instead.
