April 2019 Wrap-Up: Books I Read This Month

The month of April started strong. Then I got completely derailed for reasons I’ll explain, and my planned TBR list pretty much got shot to hell after that. But fret not because I still got quite a bit read, and some really great books I can’t wait to share! So read on for the details.

First off, let’s play…

Did I actually read the book?

Loved it! Now I want to read more from this series. Very good writing.

Started it, though!

Still want to read this, but…

Liked it! 4 stars
It seemed like something was lacking, but overall, it was an intriguing fantasy.

🙁 still want to read this

DNF’ed at 3%. Horrible

Fantastic story! Loved it! More of that same stuff I loved about The Alice Network. Just awesome.

Legit my new favorite book and the reason the rest of my month got derailed!! FIVE STARS

I didn’t make it to my book club this month, so I didn’t end up reading this one.

Liked it, but I was confused by this story. Not the best TJR book, but it was pretty good! 4 Stars

I’ll probably still try to read this, but just didn’t get to it this month.

Also not the best Nora Roberts book I’ve ever read, but it was a cute story. Scenery in the story was awesome. 4 stars

What Did I Read Unplanned?

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

I was so addicted to this series that I just kept on reading it. Then major book hangover ensued. I’m going to gush over this series for the rest of forever. It was EPIC!

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

This seemed more like a “bonus” book than an actual book. It was a lot shorter and had a lot less angst and conflict than the other books, but I think it will bridge the series into the next upcoming books coming out hopefully in the near future. 🙂

Black by Elin Peer

I gave this romance 4 stars. It wasn’t quite as good as this author’s Men of the North series, but it was still pretty good. 🙂

Best Laid Plans by Lauren Blakely

There’s something about a Friends to Lovers romance where one character is giving the other some kind of “lessons” in love, relationships, or nookie that just really speaks to my romance-loving-heart. This was a fun read.

Strong Suit by Lauren Blakely

This was a free short story and it was super cute. If you read Birthday Suit, you’ll recognize the characters in this little story. 🙂

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Now THIS was an awesome TJR book! It was awesome. Mega 5 Stars

Queen of Storms by C.N. Crawford and Katerina Martinez

This one started out strong and was really good up until the end. Then it just kind of fell apart. I gave it 3 stars, but it would have been 4 if not for the ending. Very fun fantasy, interesting characters, cool world of magic.

In Total…

I ended up reading a total of 13 books for April, plus one that I started and DNF’ed. It was a good reading month, if I do say so myself. 🙂

What did you read this month?
